About the Citizens Budget Commission

The Citizens Budget Commission is a nonpartisan nonprofit government watchdog dedicated to improving public services in New York City and New York State. We've been a civic force in New York since 1932 and have a long venerable tradition of producing first-rate policy analysis. Our work touches a broad range of critical issues-currently we have studies underway on the capital financing of the MTA, the sustainability of New York's long run energy policies, and the viability of partnering with private sector firms to finance, build, and maintain public infrastructure.

The CBC has a staff of 12 and an annual budget of $1.4 million. Our main office is conveniently located one block above Penn Station.
